Please do not cross your arms or legs during the reading, as crossing closes off your energetic field, disrupting access to messages. The actual session is done through a special prayer for which Berna will ask you to verify your full legal name. Berna does this quietly or silently while you wait for a few minutes.

After the prayer, you may turn on your recording device if you wish (note: if you have purchased a recording, you will have up to 48 hours after receiving the link to download). There is no need to turn it on before then. Then there will be silence. Berna will take a few moments while she attunes to the higher frequencies.

Berna will receive information for you and may convey questions to you from guides during this initial period known as “Opening Remarks.” This part of the session can last for 20 seconds up to 20 minutes, and while it is alright if you answer questions that may be asked of you during this period, it is helpful if you will wait to begin a stream of conversation until after the Opening Remarks are finished.

When Berna is finished with the Opening Remarks, she will announce, “Do you have any questions” or something similar. You may then proceed to ask any question you like. Keep in mind that it is often more productive to ask “how,” “why,” “what is helpful to know” (i.e., about an event, plan, relationship, etc.) questions instead of “yes/no” questions which may be closed or predictive in nature. Some examples include: What practices, tools or teachers are useful for me at this time? I am planning a trip...What may I know that may be helpful? Where shall I focus my loving support in this (life, meeting, journey, situation)? What is the highest priority for me to focus upon at this point in time for my best and highest good?

Continue asking your questions until the time is up or you feel complete. What is revealed to you is to support you at that moment in time in your life’s journey. Berna is very much looking forward to your session, and she wishes you blessings of peace, love and happiness!

1.) If you ask about someone else, the information that may be accessible to you will be within the context of your relationship with them, i.e., how they relate to you. It is preferable to use the full name of anyone you are asking about. If you do not have permission to know this information, the guides will let you know. 2.) Please also note that Berna will have access to the Higher Self of the person (which is not limited by time), and so for clarity, let her know at the time of inquiry if the person has passed on.

Berna earned her certification with Akashic Records International (ARI), and was personally trained and certified by ARI founder, Maureen St. Germain. During the channeled reading, in accordance with the ARI Code of Ethics, Berna will (1) “work from a Sacred Space of the Higher Self,” (2) “not use an outside divination tool” and (3) “recognizes that this work is a sacred trust.” As Maureen has noted, a reading from an ARI-certified guide brings “helpful insights and healing energies from the wise, loving Record Keepers about your soul’s purpose, relationships, career or health to guide you to enlightened choices,” and as such it is a “profound tool for self-exploration and empowerment.”

Following the Oracle is a path of spiritual growth. As such, it is good to keep in mind that there are certain limitations within the Oracle's Question-Answer format. For example, you may ask about Path A, B or C, when in reality there exists a superior path X of which you were unaware. Then the Oracle's answer might simply be: "There is another path, but you cannot see it." In which case, you could brainstorm and then ask about other paths and/or proceed to the next question. 

Another consideration: 

I do not practice the Oracle by following temple rules. This is not a traditional, orthodox reading, and I do not offer services such as telling you by what date a certain event will happen, where lost things are or if a child will be a boy or girl, for example. Please inquire at your local Buddhist temple for that.

My own practice has developed through the decades and I have great confidence in it. Otherwise, I would not offer it to you nor my family and friends. 

In addition to preparing your questions (see below) before the session, please remember that the Oracle is there to assist you. It is best to attempt to come to your own thoughts about what the best choice or direction is before consulting the Oracle for its guidance. In this way, you won't shortchange yourself on spiritual lessons inherent in contemplating the question and potential answers. 

A traditional practice that I follow is asking the Oracle first if the question can be addressed. The Oracle will usually answer the question. Sometimes, a question must simply be rephrased before the Oracle will answer it. Sometimes, however, the Oracle may not answer you because it is meant for you to decide for yourself, or it's not the right time to ask. In these cases, please have alternate questions prepared. 

Examples of questions suitable for the Oracle would be:

Is it in my highest and best good to______(the course of action you are considering)? 

Please give me feedback on Option A / Option B? (e.g., A=go to Italy, B=go to Canada).  

Is it in my highest good to take Approach A / B / C regarding _______(a person/event/etc.)? 

Consulting the Oracle is an act of faith in spiritual growth. While I have found that in the vast majority of readings, the responses have led me to take paths that were actually smoother and easier than the other paths I had been considering, there are times when the course indicated is not necessarily smooth and easy.

In those instances, I have found that there is something especially important to be gained by taking that course. Let me share an example. I had a positive reading to teach a course at the university level. At that point, I had already gone down the spiritual path, but having devoted so many years of my life toward the doctorate, it seemed right to at least experience teaching a college class. I had some medical symptoms still lingering at that time, however, and teaching the new course was a challenge. I wondered to myself, "Why was the reading positive to teach this class?" After it was over, however, I was so grateful that I had done it, because only then did I realize beyond a doubt that the evidence-based culture of the university at that time would have been a poor career match. So following the Oracle was challenging but ultimately led to priceless self-awareness.

The Oracle reading is as accurate as it can be for that moment in time. However, as time goes on, the reading accuracy is subject to the variable of free will as exercised in decisions made by you and others. To illustrate: visualize a decision tree diagram. As each level of decision leads to another level of decision, the specific range of outcomes that were possible or probable at the time the question was asked may later be altered as one makes decisions each level. This means that if you do a reading today, but then in the weeks that follow, the choices that you and/or the people around you take a different direction than had seemed probable at the time of the original reading, then the original reading outcome may no longer apply. This may happen if you or others make new internal changes, for example. For this reason, it is best to ask about next steps or a general trajectory, as opposed to highly specific questions about the distant future. This does not mean that a reading about a future path will necessarily be wrong, but the possible effect of free will is something to consider.

Another example of consulting the non-traditional Kwan Yin Oracle as an act of faith is that while you may ask about a certain question, the Oracle may — rather than rejecting the question (see #1 above) — give you an answer that guides you toward a fortuitous path that you did not anticipate in your question. After all, how could you have asked about it, if you didn't know it was an option in the first place? But following the direction indicated by the Oracle may later lead to an outcome that is very helpful to you.

Let me give you a concrete example. While I was writing my dissertation for the Ph.D., brick-and-mortar stores were the best way to preview books. I consulted the Oracle about going to a distant bookstore. Since my stamina was poor at that time, it was an important question to me to ask the Oracle. 

I received a very positive reading that made me excited about going. Strangely enough, however, I couldn’t find a good book at the store. I was surprised and disheartened, wondering why I had gotten such a positive Oracle reading. As I was walking to my car, however, I bumped into an acquaintance whom I hadn't seen in months. He told me about a phenomenal healer who had recently moved to the area. This healer consequently had a tremendous impact on my life, helping both my health and spiritual understanding. The way in which I was led to that connection affirmed the very positive reading I had received earlier about following the bookstore trajectory. This event and others like it have taught me to have faith in the spiritual path and the Oracle as part of it.
